Arundel Agenda 21 -  What on Earth is Agenda 21?

Agenda 21 - the agenda for the 21st century - was a major international agreement made at the Rio United Nations Earth Summit in 1992. It says that we need to change to living in ways that the Earth can sustain. Local Agenda
21 was a part of this agreement saying that local communities had a part to play in this.
What does living sustainably mean?  A sustainable community:
Enables everyone to play a part
Cuts waste and pollution
Uses resources wisely and fairly
Has a local economy for local people
Is healthy and safe
Cares about people and nature
Has its own character
Arundel Agenda 21 is the independent group working with the Town Council in Arundel. We set up pilot projects about living sustainably and pass those that are successful onto others to continue. Past projects include:
Farmers Market;
Community Bus;
Flower and Produce Show;
Seed Swap;
Schools exchange;
Town Map;
Transport study and conference
Energy exhibition.
...and more
We are currently engaged in Greening Arundel - community action on climate change...

Everyone who lives or works in Arundel and its environs is invited to join in.
