Arundel By Candlelight

Saturday 7th December, midday to 7pm

The historic town of Arundel in West Sussex, with its famous castle and cathedral, provides the perfect backdrop to enjoy this Christmas event. Real Christmas trees decorated with simple white lights adorn all the shops, restaurants and pubs, plus many private houses, creating an elegant and sophisticated scene. While in the town square a traditional tall Christmas tree donated by the Duke of Norfolk’s estate will shine brightly against the early evening sky.

The Arundel by Candlelight Christmas Market rivals many of those to be found in our larger cities for the quality and range of hand-picked stall-holders, and there is always an array of seasonal treats such as roasted chestnuts, mulled wine and hog roasts.

With a refreshing absence of chain stores, Arundel is also celebrated for its modern independent shops, contemporary art galleries, and great restaurants, pubs and cafes. The event provides people with a great opportunity to ‘shop local’ for presents and support their high street on ‘Small Business Saturday’.
A host of choirs will be performing throughout the day, including the ever popular Rock Choir, Choristers from Arundel Cathedral, Arun Chorale Society, Arundel Community Choir, plus local school choirs from ACE and St. Philips. Father Christmas will be present, as usual based at Arundel Museum. Pantomime excerpts can be enjoyed at Nineveh House, Tarrant Street. Also look out for face painting, an Elf stilt walker plus thrilling fire performers!

Arundel by Candlelight will once again deliver an enchanting day, full of fun and festive cheer; an opportunity for everyone to come together and celebrate a memorable day in the run up to Christmas.
