Blastreat, Fitzalan Road, Arundel: Refused

A statement from AHA! (Affordable Housing In Arundel):

The AHA! campaign group which was formed to protect Arundel from inappropriate development is delighted to announce that Arun District Council have refused permission for developers to build a 14m high block of 46 luxury retirement flats on the edge of the Conservation Area in Arundel.

AHA!  wishes to thank Arundel Town Council which has worked  tirelessly to uphold the policies in Arundel’s Neighbourhood Plan. ATC seeks appropriate development on the site including the preservation of the old buildings and a mix of around 24 dwellings including some affordable provision.

Additionally, AHA! wishes to extend sincere thanks to all 2000 supports of the AHA! campaign group, of which over 230 wrote to Arun District Council to object to the misconceived development.

This is a great day for the voice of the people of Arundel but we must regrettably brace ourselves for the likelihood of a further modified application (or possibly an appeal) . To this end, the AHA! campaign group is committed to listening to the  residents and Town Council and helping the town to enforce its  Neighbourhood Plan.
