Southern Rail Car Park on Station Approach, Arundel, BN18 9PH (Saturday charges apply)

With limited on street parking it’s highly recommended that attendees make use of the above free schemes – difficulties in locating on street spaces only add to congestion.
Please note: Following illegal and dangerous parking in the Arundel area during previous large scale events, hundreds of ‘No Waiting’ cones and signs will be positioned in areas to prevent illegal parking, inclusive of but not limited to London Road, Canada Road, Torton Hill Road and surrounding areas. These areas will also be patrolled regularly. Vehicles causing an obstruction on surrounding streets or parked on verges will be at risk of towing and penalty charge notices. Please do not endanger the lives of residents, yourselves and the wider community.

Limited coach parking will be available in Mill Road car park. Please contact the event organisers for further details.

Arundel town hosts cycle racks outside Arundel Museum on Mill Road and the Coop on The Causeway, along with five cycle hoops available for use outside Spencer Swaffer Antiques, Arundel Brewery Shop, the former Mill Road toilets, The White Hart and the Red Lion pub. Twenty four storage spaces are also available at the Southern Rail car park, five minutes’ walk from Arundel town centre.

Buses will be offering a diversion route into Arundel Town via Queens Street. The bus stop will be located at the entrance to Mill Road car park. Buses displaced from stops within the road closure areas will all relocate to Mill Road car park. Please contact the various bus operators for any further details.

Castle Cars will have a temporary rank adjacent to the Post Office in Mill Road, and will be available to pick up and drop off throughout the event and the earlier road closures.
Please remember that taxis or other vehicles will be unable to pass through the road closures which commence at 5am on Saturday 2nd December to Midnight.

Southern rail runs regular services from major surrounding towns along with direct lines to London. For telephone enquiries and bookings phone Arundel Station Travel on 03451272920; National Rail Enquiries on 08457 48 49 50 or visit for information about times, routes, etc

Road closures during Arundel by Candlelight
On the day of the event High Street and Tarrant Street will be closed to vehicles from 05:00 to 23:59 in order to make these streets a safer and more pleasant environment during peak time. This will also allow the facilitation of the live nativity procession, Christmas stalls, choirs and street entertainment allowing the event to be set up, run and taken down. Crown Yard car park will be closed for parking to host the vintage fairground. Cars parked illegally in these areas will be at risk of penalty charge notices and immediate towing.

Parking restrictions during Arundel by Candlelight
The parking bays on the cobbled area of the High Street will have a parking suspension enforced on Friday 1 December 09:00 to 23:59 to allow for initial set up. Parking suspensions will then be issued on Saturday 2 December along Mill Road next to and opposite Arundel post office (to allow for the mobile taxi rank), along River Road adjacent to McColls and The Causeway/Queen Street (both sides to ensure a clear free-flow of traffic). Cars parked illegally in these areas will be at risk of penalty charge notices and towing.

Arundel by Candlelight and local authorities will be doing all they can to alleviate congestion and keep the traffic flowing safely but they’d like to remind drivers that it will be busier than usual and to plan your journey. Do make use of the free parking schemes and please ensure, as you should all year round, to show due consideration to local residents when parking, as well as ensuring roads are left clear enough in case access is needed by emergency vehicles. Towing and penalty charge notices can be issued during this event.
